We’re back with our our Annual Christmas Luncheon! Once again we’ll be in the Fairway Dining Room at the WESTON GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB. But this year instead of a buffet, we are having a plated luncheon. The Retirees’ Committee cordially invites all CSA retirees and one guest, to attend this festive event on Wednesday, December 8, 2021.
Due to COVID-19 precautions, all attendees must present proof of full vaccination (QR code, printed or image of proof of vaccination) status to Weston staff – they are not accepting any exemptions. Masks must be worn except when eating.
Passengers can be dropped off right at the door and parking is nearby. We have the whole dining room only for CSA. There is an adjacent lounge with stone fireplace for our reception area. Self coat check is just down the hall. All is handicapped accessible.
The fee this year is $30 per person. Seating for this event is limited so we urge you to make your plans early as reservations will be on a “first-call basis”. The deadline for your reply is December 3, 2021. Details are as follows: Continue reading →
Here`s a screen capture of our recent Retirees Club Executive. Do you recognize everyone? Across the top is Terri Smith, Susan Morley and Brian McCran. That’s Mel Doig, Chiu Wong and Daniel Barbini on the next line. And Kris Jones on the bottom.
At our Annual General Meeting on October 25,2021, Tom Tabor and Sue Pearse stepped down, Brian McCran was elected for a second term as president, and Chiu Wong and Kris Jones were elected as directors.
Thanks to Tom and Sue for being part of the executive.

On September 26, 2021 Veni Christante passed away at the age of 93.
Veni had a long and illustrious career at CSA. He was one of the early employees, and held employee #126. Veni told stories of those early days at CSA, housed in Strachan Building as part of Ontario Hydro and then at the old Planters Peanut Factory at Dufferin and Queen. Veni worked as a technician who rose to the role of Corporate Secretary. Amongst the earliest to reach 40 years of service, Veni designed the pin that only a few have earned. He retired after 42 years at CSA in the early 90s and although many of our younger retirees joined after Veni retired, he was known to all. He was friendly, a true gentleman and he never forgot your name. He will be missed.
Veni designed the CSA logo for hockey helmets that shows a CSA on a puck with red for the Canadiens and blue for the Leafs.
Veni was a long time member of the CSA Retirees’ Club, serving as president. He organized the annual trip to Stratford and instituted the tradition of the Christmas Luncheon originally held at The Old Mill. Veni attended many retiree events and enjoyed mixing with his former colleagues, many of whom were good friends.
Predeceased by his wife, he is survived by his sons and their families. Visitation and funeral arrangements are scheduled for October 1, 2021. Please check Veni’s obituary on the Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home obituary page for his obituary and for information on how to attend the funeral.
Retiree Mo Polansky turned 100 this April. We celebrated his birthday with a Virtual Zoom Party with 25 guests including current CSA Group CEO David Weinstein who congratulated Mo on behalf of the organization. Many shared their best wishes and some shared stories of their days working alongside Mo.
We’ve set up a page/tab on this web site called Mo Turns 100. Please check out the photos, links to articles about Mo and comments from his many former colleagues.
If you were unable to attend or simply want to leave a message for Mo please go to the Mo Turns 100 page and leave a comment.
